Yet robust earnings failed to stop equity valuations from sliding. On July 8, Chengxin Lithium hit its daily downside limit, Yahua Group dropped over 15%, and Tinci Materials saw more than 30 billion yuan in market value evaporate within a week. Ganfeng Lithium has fallen roughly 38% from its peak, while market leader CATL is down about 20%. The immediate trigger for the selloff was the resumption of operations at CATL’s Jianxiawo lithium mine. On June 29, the mine secured its safety production permit, which was officially posted on the Credit China website on July 7.
